Sumo Bots — Design, Print & Battle Your Robot

Get ready to build, design, and battle your own robot in this high-energy camp!

Young engineers start from scratch — designing their own robots to compete in Sumo Bot battles. Using motors and sensors, campers build a battle-ready bot and face off against teammates by end of week.

  • Design a robot from scratch using motors and sensors
  • Work with teammates to test and refine designs
  • Compete in friendly Sumo Bot battles on Friday
AGES 9–14

Robot Engineers — Design, Print & Dominate the Arena

Unleash your inner engineer and build the ultimate battle bot!

A step up in complexity and competition. Campers engineer advanced robots with custom features and programming, then put them to the test in high-stakes Sumo Bot tournaments.

  • Build robots with powerful motors, sensors, and custom features
  • Work in teams to engineer battle-ready bots with unique strategies
  • Compete in Sumo Bot tournaments and refine based on results

Robotics Innovation Lab — Engineering & Assistive Robotics

Step into a real robotics R&D lab!

The most advanced robotics experience at Code Wiz. Using LEGO Education SPIKE Prime and Python, teens explore how engineers design robots that help people in the real world — gearboxes, torque, load, and sensor-driven automation.

  • Explore mechanical engineering: gearboxes, torque, load, and structural design
  • Use Python to program event-based commands and sensor feedback
  • Build prototypes inspired by assistive robotics and real-world engineering

Why Families Choose Code Wiz

🤖

Hands-On from Day One

Campers are building and testing from the first hour — not watching lectures or working through worksheets.

⚙️

Real Engineering Concepts

Sensors, motors, structural design, and iteration — the same principles real engineers use.

💻

Code Meets Hardware

Programming robots makes code tangible. Kids see and feel what their code does in real time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need any robotics or coding experience?

No experience needed for Sumo Bots or Robot Engineers — coaches start from the beginning. The Robotics Innovation Lab is designed for teens who want a more advanced experience; prior coding experience is helpful but not required.

What equipment do you use?

We provide all equipment. Sumo Bots and Robot Engineers use motors and sensors. The Robotics Innovation Lab uses the LEGO Education SPIKE Prime system with Python programming. Campers do not need to bring anything.

Is there an actual competition?

Yes — every robotics camp ends with a tournament or showcase where campers put their robots to the test against each other. It's friendly, exciting, and one of the highlights of the week.

My child is 9 — Sumo Bots or Robot Engineers?

Robot Engineers (ages 9–14) is the better fit. It's more technically challenging and involves more programming alongside the build. Sumo Bots is designed specifically for the younger age group (6–8).
